Blogmas Fail!

Hey guys! So blogmas was a fail this year I'm sorry to say. I should not have taken on something like this so soon after starting a new job. I also did not realize that my job would be so physically exhausting. This is my own fault and I'm so sorry for starting this. I want you all to know that I had every intent of following through with this.

Blogmas Day 11: My Favorite Books

Hey guys! This post is about my top six favorite books. They aren't in any particular order below They are just my top six favorites.

#1
Brooklyn Rose
Ann Rinaldi

I love this book so much. Ann Rinaldi is one of my favorite authors. Brooklyn Rose is about Rose who is from a small town in the south. She is then quickly courted and wed to a man from Brooklyn who is a very wealthy fabric seller from up North. She then moves to London and has to adjust to her new life.

#2
Finishing Becca
Ann Rinaldi

As I said before I love Ann Rinaldi. Finishing Becca takes place during the Revolutionary war. Becca is sent to work in the home of a well off family as a personal maid to one of their daughters. She faces several dilemmas while she is there. This is definitely a recommended read.

#3
Nine Days A Queen
Ann Rinaldi

Do you get my love yet? Seeing As I have three of her books on this list I think my love is evident. As the other two books this book is a historical fiction. But this one is about an actual person, Lady Jane Grey, who was actually queen of England for nine days. This took place after the death of King Edward VI and before Queen Mary I. The book is about her whirlwind days as queen and what happened after Queen Mary (also known as Bloody Mary nowadays) becomes queen.

#4
Nineteen Minutes
Jodi Picoult

Jodi Picoult is another one of my favorite authors. I love many of her books but this is the very first one I ever read. If you don't recognize her name her most famous book is My Sister's Keeper which was tured into a major motion picture starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin. Nineteen Minutes is about the nineteen minutes in which a school shooting takes place and the aftermath.

#5
Room
Emma Donoghue

Room is an amazing book. it is very highly recommended. I recieved this book as a gift and I had never heard of it before. but I am so glad that I got it. I can't even begin to just describe it vaguely. I'm afraid that if I attempt to I'll accidentally give too much away. So instead I'll just include the actual synopsis of the book from Barnes and Noble. I also think it is worth mentioning that this book was made into a movie starring Brie Larson. I have yet to see it but when I do I'll review it for you.

Synopsis: To five-year-old-Jack, Room is the world. . . . It's where he was born, it's where he and his Ma eat and sleep and play and learn. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.
Room is home to Jack, but to Ma it's the prison where she has been held for seven years. Through her fierce love for her son, she has created a life for him in this eleven-by-eleven-foot space. But with Jack's curiosity building alongside her own desperation, she knows that Room cannot contain either much longer.
Room is a tale at once shocking, riveting, exhilarating—a story of unconquerable love in harrowing circumstances, and of the diamond-hard bond between a mother and her child.

#6
The Kite Runner
Khaled Hosseini

I'll admit I was forced to read this book and I hated the teacher who taught that class. Not for forcing me to read this though. I actually loved this book which surprised me. It was a book I was reading for school. I didn't expect to like it. But I did and it introduced me to an amazing author and taught me a little bit about a culture I knew little to nothing about.

I recommend all of the books listed above and I welcome any recommendations you may have for me. There are other books I love they just didn't make this list. There is one book I remember reading every summer for like three years when I was younger. I'd love to reread it now but I can't remember the title or the author. I thought it was called Becoming Emily but upon research I discovered I was wrong. It's about a Chinese-American girl and her parents rules and finding the right balance. That's all I can remember about it. I hope I'm able to find it some day.

What are your favorite books?

Blogmas Day 10: What I'm Most Thankful For In 2015

Hey guys! So I'm still in the process of catching up but I'm working on it. I hope you like the new look of the blog as well. This post is about what I'm most thankful for in 2015.

#1:
My Family

This is probably an obvious one. But I am grateful for my family. I'm lucky to not only have two loving parents but I also have my birth father, his wife, and my dad's girlfriend in my life. I also have seven siblings that I'm thankful in addition to my dad's girlfriend's three kids (although I only really know two of them.

#2
My Friends

I am so lucky ti have such amazing friends. To the one I met my senior year of high school to the one I just met on Saturday. Mikayla, Angie U., Julia, Tiff, Aeriel, Chey. I am so grateful to all of you.

#3
My House

I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a house so I'm grateful for my house and having a roof over my head.

What are you grateful for this year?

Blogmas Day 9: Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

I'll admit that I haven't written to you in years. And it's not something I thought I'd do again to be honest. Well except for helping my (future) kids when they're little but then it wouldn't be for me it would be for them. Anyways, obviously there are still some material things I'd like so I guess I'll start with those. I'd love a puppy. I know that sounds very childish but I'd still love a puppy. My dream puppy is a pomsky which is a pomeranian husky mix and they are adorable. But any puppy would be great.

I'd also love some name brand makeup. More specifically I'd like Hoola from Benefit. Every one says it's such a great bronzer and I'd just like to try it for myself. I'd also like the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay. I really like the color in the palette. Honestly there is just so much name brand makeup I'd like to try that I can't name it all so I'll just name some brands: Benefit, MAC, Nars, Urban Decay, and Gerard Cosmetics to name a few.

I'd also like a MacBook. I'd one for my blog and for school since I'd like to start college in the fall. So a MacBook would be really useful. One more material thing I'd really like is a Nikon D3300 camera. It's a nice digital camera and I'd really like to get into photography. Now the rest of I want I want is for my family and friends.

I want them to be happy and healthy. I want them to be safe. I want them to have everything they need to survive and more. I also want the people of the world to be safe. There is so much violence and hate and war in the world right now and it is awful.

Well, I think that's everything. Merry Christmas Santa.

Kylee

What would you as Santa for?

Blogmas Day 8: Christmas Tag!

Hey guys! So as I explained in the day seven post I'm so sorry that this post is so late. You can see my explanation in the previous post. Anywho, today's post is the Christmas tag! I'm going to be doing the questions that Zoella and ThatcherJoe did on Zoe's channel a few years ago. I just really liked those questions. So I will link their video at the end so you can watch it if you'd like.

Question 1: When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

To be honest the past couple years I haven't been too into Christmas. I think it's because I was like very depressed whether I realized it or not. But this year I started getting excited around the beginning of December. I think part of it is because I'm actually happy this year. Also because with my job I can buy Christmas presents for people this year.

Question 2: Do you still have an advent calendar?

No I don't. But next year I want to buy one for myself and I'd love a beauty advent calendar from like Benefit or something.

Question 3:  What are your favorite Christmas films?

I answered this already in my blogmas day two post. So I'll link that below for you. But as a breif overview my three favorite Christmas films are Elf, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey version), and The Year Without A Santa Claus.

Question 4: Do you have any funny Christmas Stories?\

Okay so I don't have any funny Christmas stories but I do have a remember-able Christmas Eve story. So I was in elementary school (I don't remember the age) and we were going to my aunt's house. I didn't feel well but we still went just to see everyone because we don't see that part of the family a lot. We got there and I kind of just laid on the couch. I was tired and felt sick and I wanted to go home. My parents made me try to eat some food. Basically I got sick (threw up) at my family Christmas party.  I was given a bath there and put in pajamas then we left the party early before Santa stopped by.

Question 5: Talk us through your typical Christmas Day.

My typical Christmas Day changed when my parents separated when I was in seventh grade. So I'll tell you what we've done since then. My siblings and I wake up early and go downstairs but we can't open our presents until our mom wakes up. We wake her up around 8 in the morning. She comes down stairs and gets her coffee, some trash bags, her camera, and puts breakfast (usually some sort of casserole) in the oven, Then finally after all of that waiting we can finally start opening things. We always start with going through our stockings. Then once we all finish that, we begin opening our presents. There isn't really any sort of organization to this we just all open our presents. Once my siblings and I are done my mom goes through her stocking and open her presents. After all the gifts are open we have breakfast and get ready for the day. Then around ten my dad picks us up and we go to his house and open presents there. My dad has since moved in with his girlfriend so there is some kind of order to opening presents there. They hide a little pickle ornament and the first person to find it gets to open the first present. Fun fact my little sister has been the first person to find it two years in a row. We usually hang at my dad's for a little bit then we go home. After a few hours my grandma comes over and we open the presents from her and have Christmas dinner.

Question 6: What do you eat for Christmas?

This year we're having ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, green bean casserole, green beans, and gravy.

Question 7: Do you have any Christmas traditions?

Every Christmas Eve we go to my aunt's (on my dad's side) house. We see our cousins and have dinner. Santa comes, reads a story and all of the kids get one present. Then we go home and lay out cookies and milk for Santa then go to bed. In the morning we do what I said in question 5.

Question 8: What are your favorite Christmas songs?

I actually have a blog post about this planned but one of them is Grownup Christmas List by Kelly Clarkson.

Question 9: What is the best Christmas present you've ever received?

There is a toss up for this answer. Two years ago I got a trip to Disney World for the next Thanksgiving. It was an amazing present. Then last year I got an IPhone 6, phone service, and tickets to a Taylor Swift concert.

Question 10: Real or fake Christmas tree?

We have a fake tree but I definitely prefer real trees.

I hope you liked this post! I had fun answering these questions. And I'll link Zoe's video for you guys!

Zoella's Christmas tag:

Blogmas Day 7: Childhood Board Games

Hey guys! I'm sorry this post is so late! As you know I started work on December 7th and I've been getting settled with that. Also I've been totally exhausted mentally. So again I apologize that this post is so late. Anyways, this post is about some childhood board games I remember.

#1
 Clue

It was Mrs. White...in the kitchen...with the knife. Clue was one of my favorite board games when I was younger. I haven't played it in a few years but I definitely want to play it again. (My favorite character was Ms. Scarlet personally.)

#2
Monopoly

Everyone knows this game and it has ended some friendships. I had the regular version, the junior version, and the Star Wars version. Then as I got older I got one with an electronic thing for auctioning but I don't remember the name of that version. The version I want most is the Harry Potter one.

#3
Mall Madness

I loved this game so much growing up. I would make my mom play it with me. I honestly wish I still had this game. It was so much fun.

#4
Sorry

I'll admit I never played this game much when I was younger. But I've played it a few times recently and I love it. It's so fun and a little frustrating but I like it.

I hope you like the post! And don't forget to send me questions for my q&a post!

Blogmas Day 6: Starting Work

Welcome to blogmas day 6 guys! Tomorrow is my first day of work ever. I mean I've babysat before but I've never had a real job. I'm going to be cashier at Giant which is a food store where I live. I did my training on the computer last week and tomorrow is my first day actually on the register. I'm excited but I'm also nervous. The first day of something is always nerve wracking though I guess.  I have an eight hour shift tomorrow then a four hour shift on Wednesday and another four hour shift on Friday. I really hope this job works out well. Writing is definitely my passion but I have to work so I can go to college to become a better writer. What was your first job? Comment below!

I'm sorry today's post is so short. I had a longer post planned but I was spending time with my dad today and with starting work tomorrow I didn't want to be up super late. I'm planning a question and answer post in a couple weeks so comment your questions below and I'll answer them!

Blogmas Day 5: Decorating The Christmas Tree

Welcome to blogmas day 5! Today, we decorated our Christmas tree. When I was younger I used to love doing this. But in recent years it's seemed more of a task then a fun thing to do with my family. Maybe it's because as you get older Christmas starts to lose it's magic. Or maybe it's because as I've gotten older my relationship with my family has gotten more and more distant. Maybe it's a combination of both. Either way the past few years I haven't really enjoyed decorating the tree. My family doesn't get a real tree anymore although we used to when I was younger. Our tree doesn't have a theme. We have a collection of ornaments that have been gathered over the years. Personally I would rather a themed tree. I just think that they look nicer. But I can do that when I get my own place hopefully within the next few years.
Our tree does look nice though. My favorite ornament is a wooden Ariel (The Little Mermaid) one that I got for Christmas last year. The Little Mermaid is my favorite princess movie and Ariel is my favorite Disney princess. I also have some cheerleading ornaments that I love since cheerleading was such a big part of my life for about half my life so far. Every year we put an angel on as the tree topper. I remember we used to have this Santa head as a tree topper and it was really creepy. I found it so creepy to me that my parents bought the angel topper.

Blogmas Day Four: My Favorite YouTubers!

Welcome to blogmas day four! I hope you've enjoyed the other blogmas posts so far! Today's post is my favorite YouTubers. These aren't in any particular order but these are the four YouTubers I watch all the time.

Shaaanxo / Shaaanxo Vlogs
(Shannon Harris)

Not only do I love watching Shan's main channel videos, which consist of makeup tutorials, but I also love watching her daily vlogs. Shan's main channel is so helpful for some cool makeup ideas. She also posts Halloween makeup tutorials every year that are AMAZING (in my personal opinion). But I love her main channel videos because you get to see her life. Her two dogs, Lewie and Zeus, are so cute! And Shan is funny too! She also inspires me to eat healthier in her daily vlogs. The smoothies she makes in her vlogs look so yummy! Oh and you also get to see her make up collection which is goals. I mean seriously she has so much makeup. Shannon is a great person and her videos are so good to watch! Below are links to her most recent vlog and her most recent main channel videos.

Remi's main channel is filled with cute DIY's and fun hauls along with other videos. Her vlogs are fuuny insights into her life as she recently moved out on her own in LA.. I love the California native because she's comfortable in her own body. At least that's what she shows on camera and it inspires me to be more confident. Remi isn't super thin (I don't mean this in a mean way. If you ever see a full size picture of me I have no room to be mean about someone else's weight) but she still rocks super cute crop tops, halter tops shorts, and dresses. I try to draw inspiration from her outfits when I go shopping now. Below are links to her most recent video and vlog.

The SacconeJolys
(Jonathan, Eduardo, Emilia, and Anna SacconeJoly plus their six dogs)

This Irish family based in England is absolutely adorable! Now I haven't seen every single video they've ever posted as they have vlogged every day for over five years! Viewers who have been there since the beginning have seen Jonathan Joly and Anna Saccone go from being boyfriend and girlfriend to husband and wife. They've seen them go from having one dog to six (Albi, Theo, Bianca, Nuvola, Nivea, and Sina). They've seen the births of their two children, Emilia Tommasina and Eduardo Jonathan. Anna and Jonathan both have individual channels but honestly I prefer to watch the family vlogs. Emilia and Eduardo are so adorable! Below is a link to their vlog from today!

XUrbanSimsX
(Jenn)
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Yjmh033SVFI/hqdefault.jpg

As you may be able to tell from her username Jenn is a simmer on YouTube. I love her Sims 4 let's plays. My favorite is her Get To Work Let's PLay and her The Bachelor Challenge. I like Jenn more than other simmers because she goes into such detail with their backgrounds and actually thinks about if a sim would actually do a certain job or marry a certain person. It's kind of like watching a tv show. I absolutely love it and her videos are fuego! Below is a link to her most recent video!

I hope you enjoyed today's post! Who are your favorite Youtubers? Any recommendations for me?

Blogmas Day 2: My Favorite Christmas Movies

It's that time of year again when the same Christmas movies that we've grown up with are played on TV once again. I have seen many of them multiple times and by now I know which ones are my favorite. So below are my three favorites and why I love them.

#1
http://clzmovies.r.sizr.io/core/covers/lg/c4/c4_27848_0_HowTheGrinchStoleChristmas.jpg

My first is How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). But not the cartoon version. I like the version with Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen. I like this version because to me it is funnier but it also has one of my all time favorite Christmas songs, Where Are You Christmas?

#2
http://s3.amazonaws.com/atlanticstation/media/2014/12/ELf.jpg

My second favorite movie is Elf (2003). I love this movie so much. I know it's not a traditional Christmas movie but I love it so much. It is so funny and it always puts me in the holiday mood.

#3
https://youthlitreviews.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/year-without-a-santa-claus.jpg?w=300&h=225

My final favorite Christmas movie is A Year Without A Santa Claus (1974). I've only recently rediscovered my love for this movie and I must admit I haven't seen it for a few years. But I'm looking forward to seeing it this year. My favorite bit the Miser brothers.

What are your favorite Christmas movies?

Welcome To December!

Welcome to December everyone! I'm going to attempt what I'm going to call blogmas. Blogmas is my version of vlogmas which vloggers participate in on YouTube. As I don't have a Youtube channel nor do I wish to have one right now I will do this. For blogmas I will attempt to post something every day in December up to and including Christmas Eve.

Blogmas Day 1: Sam Pepper's Disgusting Prank (My Reaction)

Sunday, YouTuber, Sam Pepper released a video where he pranked a Viner/Youtuber named Sam Golbach with the help of Sam's best friend Colby Brock. If it was a simple harmless prank I would not be writing this reaction post. In the supposed prank Golbach got kidnapped along with Brock (Brock was just pretending as he was in on it) and they were taken to a secret location, There a masked man took off the hood that had been placed on Golbach's head leaving the hood on Brock. While Golbach pleaded for his and his friend's life the masked man pretended to shoot Brock in the head who then played dead. The masked man then walked off camera while Golbach sobbed thinking his best friend was dead and had been killed in front of him. Brock then took off his hood and told Golbach that he was okay and it was prank. The best friends did film an outtro for the video and Golbach seemed fine but that is not the point.

This so called prank is disgusting and wrong. It would be disgusting and wrong under any circumstances but it is made worse by the fact that it was done not only for the entertainment of Pepper and Brock but for Pepper's viewers as he posted it to his YouTube account. Pepper has been in the media for this video as it is receiving so much outrage. There is also a petition going around on twitter for YouTube to deactivate Pepper's account.

The only research that I did for this post was watching the video and finding out Sam Golbach and Colby Brock's last names. Linked below is the video watch it if you wish but I for one will not be watching it again. Also this post is completely my opinion of the video.
